Beginning his career with a legal research clerkship for the Judicial Branch, Superior Court of Connecticut in 1997, he became an associate attorney, and then a member, at the Greenwich law firm Fogarty Cohen Selby & Nemiroff LLC.

In addition to court representation of high net-worth clients in divorce and divorce-related matters, Magistrate Posmantier has served in several neutral roles for the Connecticut Superior Court—working as a special master at the Regional Family Trial Docket in Middletown and assisting with financial dispute resolution in the Judicial District of Stamford–Norwalk. He is a graduate of the Quinnipiac School of Law Center on Dispute Resolution’s 40-Hour Mediation Certificate Program, has completed multiple advanced mediation trainings, and is a certified Safe Conversations® facilitator and workshop leader. He has also completed the IACP Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice Training, and regularly serves as mediator and arbitrator for divorce-related disputes, practices collaborative divorce law, and assists as review counsel for mediation participants.
